BME Breast Project Progress
Following the Cancer Reform Strategy 2007, recommendations were made to improve the cancer experience of patients from black and minority ethnic ( BME ) communities. A joint forum was created by NCAT and Action for London Forum - the Ethnicity Workstream - in 2008.
The outcomes from this forum prompted a need to understand the different service delivery models in use within Hospital Trusts across London and compare them with actual patient experience.
The aims of the project are to:
- develop a framework of current service provision in trusts across London
- conduct patient focus groups exploring patient experience of services provided
- correlate patient experience with trust service delivery models
- identify examples of good practice and promote positive patient experience with good services
- consider wider consultation and national policies.
