Lymphoma Association Spring Walk
Are you feeling the joys of spring? Are you based near Buckingham and fancy joining a charity walk?
The Lymphoma Association are holding their spring walk on Sunday 13 May 2012 in Wendover Woods.
Alice Strudwick, director of fundraising for the Association says: ‘Our annual Spring Walk is a great chance for people to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the beautiful surroundings of Wendover Woods, with spectacular views across Aylesbury Vale. With a short and long route the walk is suitable for all abilities and the whole family can take part, even the family dog!
‘We rely entirely on voluntary donations and by taking part walkers will help raise vital funds which will allow us to continue providing free information and support to anyone affected by lymphoma, whether patient, family member, friend or carer.’
The Lymphoma Association is a charity which supplies support and information for those affect by Lymphatic cancer. Their services include a freephone helpline, patient information and booklets, a buddy scheme with telephone links to others who have had similar experiences, regional patient conferences and a fully interactive website featuring forums and a chatroom.
The Association also has 42 support groups across the country, where anyone affected by lymphoma can go along and hear guest speakers or talk to others who have been through a similar situation to themselves.
Pat Aylett, a member of the Aylesbury support group, said: ‘The Association is a great source of support and really helps to bring people through their darkest hours. The Spring Walk is a fantastic way to get involved with the charity and also have a lovely day out!’
A registration fee of £10 per person or £20 for a family of two adults and up to three children is required. Walkers can choose between a 2.5 and 5 mile route. Walkers are asked to please register in advance and meet at the Café in the Woods by 9.30am on Sunday 13 May.
